Free CPD - Urban Greening and Biophilic Design
Over the years we have learned a lot about integrating plants into the built environment and have also given hundreds of educational presentations to share this knowledge.
Our goal is to give you a comprehensive overview of the benefits of integrating green infrastructure for the environment, economy and society, supported by data and case studies. We will discuss how greening systems can be designed for various purposes, such as biodiversity, biophilia or air quality.
We continue to inspire and encourage architects, developers and designers to make the world greener, and explain how green infrastructure can be used to meet building regulations and support biodiversity.
What is CPD?
CPD stands for "Continuing Professional Development". It is the term refers to the learning activities that professionals engage in to further develop and improve their capabilities. CPD is a holistic approach to improving personal skills and abilities throughout a professional's career. Continuing professional development is a commitment to lifelong learning. CPD encourages looking forward and identifying opportunities to learn something new, refresh existing knowledge, improve skills, or simply keep abreast of the latest developments in a particular profession or sector. In practice, CPD can mean anything from attending a training course or an educational event to studying for new qualifications or learning new aspects of a job.
How it works
Topics include:
Public realm greening
Rain Gardens / Suds planters
Parklets
Custom made planters
Living Walls, their benefits, pros, cons and alternatives
Green Roof systems
Greening up the commercial districts
Importance of Biophilic design and planting ideas for the office
Pre-grown green screens
Trellis system
The CPD provides an overview of the different ways urban greening solutions can be implemented through green screens, living walls, parklets, rain gardens, SuDS and biophilic design. We are on a mission to create a greener, healthier and more sustainable environment.
The CPD session typically consists of a 30+ minute presentation with a 15-30 minute Q&A session at the end (up to 1 hour in total).
The workshops are suitable for architects, developers, consultancies, managing agents, contractors, local authorities and large private landowners.
The training is offered free of charge with one of our expert trainers, either at your office or online via Google Meet. If you would like to book a session for your team, please contact us via the form below.
Customised learning process
If you need a CPD that focuses on particular aspects of sustainable architecture (e.g. parklets, green roofs or living interior walls), we can adjust our presentation and approach accordingly.
Learning outcomes
The ability to explain why nature is crucial to the health of our spaces, people, economy and of course the environment.
To understand how different urban greening solutions can be applied and designed for different applications to achieve a project.
Understanding of the available efficiencies and sustainable strategies that can be implemented with green infrastructure.
A general understanding of BNG, UGF, and circular economy principles and how they can be achieved through GI design.
A full understanding of the four key principles of a successfully implemented GI system.
