Traditionally, the streets would have trees planted directly into the ground, but nowadays with the vast number of underground electrical cables and water/gas pipes, it is extremely difficult to find any part of a road where any digging is possible at all.
Our planters can be custom made to any shape or size and they can be designed to fit in around existing street infrastructure. Custom Planters can accommodate large multi stem trees with colourful base planting and can also include seating.
Adding greenery in cities has a positive effect on public health, through the reduction of smog, smoke, dust, CO2 and other pollutants.Plants and trees help regulate air quality and climate, offset heat from paved surfaces and decrease noise pollution.

WOOD PLANTERS
We manufacture planters in a range of quality, FSC-approved hardwood and softwood timber.
Our outdoor wooden planters are handmade using durable wood, available in different profiles and can be stained or even painted. They can be painted with a pattern of the client’s choosing, to match with branding or simply to add an abstract but colourful pop to the planter.
Each of our large wooden planters is perfect for your home garden or exterior space with a range of sizes on offer.
These wooden planters are a perfect way of greening any space.
All planters are delivered fully assembled and lined with a damp-proof membrane to allow for drainage and can be bolted to the pavement or concrete for security.
Optional upgrades can include false layers, reflectors, signage and risers allowing them to be relocated if required with a forklift or pallet jack.
Typical hardwoods available are iroko, sapele, oak, balau and many more. Left to age naturally, these timbers will silver over time or they can be regularly oiled to maintain their rich colour. Hardwood planters are typically heavy duty and are well suited for modal filters, Low Traffic Neighbourhoods, street furniture and applications where planters are to be durable and long lasting.
Our Oak Hardwood Planters have been used throughout London and across the UK to create Low Traffic Neighbourhoods.
SuDs Planters
SuDS (Sustainable drainage systems) Planters help tackle pollution by removing many of the pollutants found in the runoff from roofs, such as sediment, bird droppings and deposits from air pollution.
Our planters are supplied fully assembled and ready to connect into the existing drainage system. All of our planters include an overflow and drainage outlet pipe ready to fit into the existing site drainage system. The drainage support pipe system is surrounded by gravel which helps with water dissipation. The whole unit is then covered with a geotextile membrane to keep it separate from the compost.
This process of encouraging the rainwater to flow through the planters significantly slows the water down during storm conditions, helping to reduce the rate at which water enters our rivers, lakes, and oceans, making them less likely to flood during storms.
Our SuDS (Sustainable drainage systems) planters are a sustainable way to manage rainwater run-off from rooftops.
SCREENING PLANTERS
Our instant green hedging screen provides a natural privacy screen for any garden, landscape or commercial project. These green living screens are the perfect planters for fences too.
Our living screen planters are available in many different species and are a fantastic way of creating outdoor dining spaces, partitioning areas, and greening up building sites.
These planters are available in both softwood and hardwood and have timber uprights to securely fasten the screens into place.
The galvanised steel base sets the foundations for a long lasting, heavy duty and durable planter. The planters can be built to any size but typically are supplied in 1.2m lengths.
Standard planters come with a protective membrane, specialist compost, fertiliser, drainage matting, and are fixed to timber posts with specialist fixing brackets.
Metal Planters
Our metal planters are typically very durable and heavy duty making them perfect for high traffic areas. Metal planters can also be supplied lightweight making them perfect for use on roof terraces and windowsills. We manufacture metal planters in a range of finishes, including powder-coated, galvanised and weathered Corten steel.

Powder-coated steel planters offer a great opportunity for colour customisation, combined with a durable, hard-wearing and flawless surface finish.
Our steel planters are first galvanised to give them enhanced protection from rust then they are powder coated for both a further level of protection and aesthetic appeal. Our elegant designs are an eye catching addition to urban environments with an extensive range of colours.
Standard colours can be selected from the RAL Classic series (over 200 shades), in a range of finishes. On request, planters can be coated in a range of specialist powders and finishes.
All planters have incorporated drainage to provide plants with a healthy growing environment.
Corten Steel Planters
Corten Planters naturally develop a variable patina of bronze, rust and copper hues.
Meristem’s planters are available in a weathering steel option otherwise known as Corten Steel.
Weathering steel offers a sophisticated industrial look which contrasts amazingly with vibrant green planting, bringing a contemporary edge and rustic charm to any urban environment, garden, balcony or patio.
Weathering steel is a group of steel alloys which was developed to eliminate the need for painting by forming a stable rust-like appearance after exposure to the elements.
Corten steel planters are extremely long lasting, hard-wearing and require little to no maintenance which makes these planters particularly well suited for the public realm.

We offer a range of large tree planters for private, public and commercial projects throughout the UK.
Tree planters include large-format containers, planting pots and oversized flower tubs, which allow mature plants to establish as key features in streetscapes, city centres and commercial landscapes.
Tree planters offer a platform for clients to improve local identity, advertise corporate sponsorship campaigns and can incorporate bespoke logos, designs or colour schemes.
They can come in a range of sizes and can have tree stakes, irrigation and tree anchoring systems installed.
Planters for trees are available with lifting hooks or risers so they can be moved around with HIAB vehicles or forklift trucks.
Planters for trees & Lamp Column
Available in a range of shapes and sizes, these planters are built to go around existing furniture or infrastructure on the street-scape. The planters are suitable to be installed around bollards, street-lamps and electrical feed points.
Access hatches and panels can be designed into the planters to ensure that when required, relevant engineers can get access to the lamp column or feed point.
Branding can be added with vinyl lettering and high definition large format printing.
Timber cladding Planters
Timber clad planters are powder coated steel carcasses which are then clad in a range of timber profiles including tongue and groove, shiplap, log lap and much more. Cladding is available in both soft and hardwoods including iroko, sapele, larch, beech, and oak.
These planters have proved very popular within our Parklets and offer a sophisticated look to any space. Timbers’ natural grain boasts a range of tones which contrasts fantastically with bright, vibrant planting.
Timber cladding can be installed in a range of directions and patterns to create an interesting and unique aesthetic. We are delighted to be offering bespoke printing and burning services directly onto the timbers allowing logos and patterns to be applied.

Within increased demand of cycle storage, they are an attractive addition to a workplace entrance, high street or any outdoor space.
We fabricate a range of cycle storage solutions which can incorporate planting, seating and even green living roofs.
Storage solutions are designed to fit within a single or double parking bay on the carriageway. They can however be installed on pavement built-outs, town squares or built bespoke to fit niche spaces and locations.
Graphics and custom paint designs can be applied to complement the street-scape.
Planters with Trellis & Wall Mounted Planters
Meristem’s wall mounted planters offer an interesting alternative to living wall systems.
Available in a wide range of geometric shapes, these planters can be mounted in a pattern and linked with a wire rope trellis to create a great visual display. Climbing plants then create an amazing effect and bring vibrancy to dull walls. Irrigation is included to ensure the plants are able to thrive with minimal maintenance.
