Lancaster West Estate in North Kensington is a considerably sized housing estate built in the 1960's and includes the Grenfell Tower.
After the devastating fire in 2017, which claimed the lives of 72 people, the government promised the surrounding estate would be turned into “model social housing estate for the 21st century”.
Therefore we were honoured to be selected to green up the estate by installing 4 living walls, a series of custom made steel planters and flower beds to create a calm peaceful seating area. So far the feedback from the local residents has been amazingly positive.
We used more than 1300 plants, using predominantly evergreen varieties with a mix of ferns, convolvulus, erysimum, muehlenbeckia, vinca, liriope, sarcococca, euphorbia, pachysandra, rosemary and more.
We look forward to working on the next stage of green interventions with the Lancaster West Neighbourhood Team - WeAreW11.
