Ark Franklin Primary Academy
Our biggest school to date with over 350m of ivy (hedera helix woerner) and jasmine green screens, sensory planting, planters and benches, living walls and more.
The green screens are planted all the way around the perimeter of the school, both in the ground and in oak planters, to help absorb pollution from the nearby busy roads. Below the screens we planted a variety of herbs and spring bulbs.
The design seeks to offer children, of all ages, a connection with nature which is ever more important following the lockdowns during the pandemic. We have created an outdoor learning space with 2 living walls (using our own metal trough system), sensory beds with climbers and green screens.
The installation also included 4 hardwood tree planters with benches, an ivy tunnel and some laurel hedging. The screens, living walls and sensory beds are irrigated by a CAT 5 break tank and pump system.
